Extremely poor customer service I've been a patient for five years. I became a patient as a result of a referral from a colleague.
I travel often and I mainly have allergy problems when I’m on the east coast. I called the doctor's office today because my prescription expired and I needed to schedule a new appointment and to ask for an interim prescription until I could see the doctor.
In four separate phone conversations, the outcome was as follows:
1) The first receptionist was unprofessional and she offered no suggestions to assist with my problem. She eventually suggested that even though I’d been a loyal client, I should find a new doctor and we ended the conversation.
2) Appalled, I called back to leave a message for Dr. Goldberg and the second person that I spoke with scheduled my next appointment and offered an interim prescription which is what I wanted the first time that I called and the entire dialogue would have ended here. But, apparently aware of the previous conversation, this person was just as rude as the first person. So, prior to ending the call, I left my cell phone number for the doctor and she and I ended the conversation.
3) In a matter of seconds she called me back at the number that was in my file to verify that she had the right number. And, again we ended the conversation.
4) Two hours later, Dr. Goldberg returned my call. I informed him of the above interaction with his staff and his response was as follows, "These women have worked with me for years. Other people say great things about them and I would rather for everyone to just be happy so, I'll write you a 30 day prescription and I suggest you find a new physician."
I am a Civil Servant and a Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance carrier and I do not recommend Dr. Goldberg's practice to anyone.
Everybody deserves to be treated professionally and with respect at all times. And, given the above encounter, you may or may not have a professional experience with Dr. Goldberg's staff. And, because "they've been a team for years" your individual account of what happens with his staff really doesn’t matter to Dr. Goldberg. In other words, if you are treated badly by his staff, oh well, they're usually nice to other people, so you should see another physician.
